Booking.com: On-location travel ads from four app screenshots

Booking.com helps travelers find cheaper hotels and flights: search any city, sort hundreds of stays and flights by lowest price, grab late deals and flight + hotel bundles, and book in a few taps. Travel sells on TikTok through place and mood, so the ads needed to feel like a trip, not a desk.

  • 3 on-location ads from four screenshots
  • ~5 min from upload to finished ads
  • $4.30 per ad, vs. $100+ for a UGC video

The challenge

Travel is one of the most visual categories on TikTok and Reels. A creator talking from a bedroom undersells a product about getting away, and booking real creators on location for every new hook is slow and expensive. The ads also had to show the actual app: the search, the price-sorted results, the flights and the confirmation.

The solution

Booking.com uploaded four screenshots (search, price-sorted hotel results, flights, booking confirmed), described the app in two sentences and asked for travel-vibe videos. Otto picked a different real-world setting for each ad that fits the product (a hotel balcony over the sea, a busy big-city street, a beach boardwalk), wrote beat-structured scripts and cut the real screens into a split under the creator on every step.

How Otto approached it

  • Three formats side by side: a creator split-screen from a sea-view balcony, a problem hook ("This hotel room costs sixty-eight bucks") on a busy city street, and a 30-second speedrun on the beach.
  • Each setting is chosen for the product, with an outfit to match, so the background sells the trip while the app screens sell the savings.
  • Every step line shows the matching real screen: search, sort by lowest price, the deal, the booking.
  • Ads land in the review queue; nothing posts without approval.

The results

  • Three finished, captioned 9:16 ads from one upload of four screenshots, each about 21 seconds and ready for TikTok and Instagram Reels.
  • Three on-location looks (balcony, city, beach) with no shoot, no travel and no creator fees.
  • All three rendered in parallel in about five minutes, at 4,300 credits ($4.30) per ad.
